TRI013: 7-Day DRIVE Engine Challenge - Run Your Propulsion System
A seven-day identity challenge to keep your drives alive — pair one MVD with a SMART goal, run the Drive Propulsion Loop, and score it in your journal and DII so aligned action compounds into transformation.
Run Your Propulsion System — Pair One MVD With a SMART Goal and Keep It Moving
This challenge ties everything together: your drives, your MVDs, your guardrails, your journaling, and your DII — pointed at a goal you actually want.
Over seven days you'll keep the Drive Propulsion Loop running: fuel → spark → habit → dashboard → momentum. The point is not intensity. The point is coherent repetition small enough that your nervous system says yes.
▶ Watch the challenge walkthrough above, then start Day 1.
Each day includes:
- A primary objective
- A guided exercise
- A reflection prompt
- A micro-activation (your MVD)
Note: you should already have a value–virtue system, guardrails, and at least one drive from TRI011. If not, run the TRI011 DRIVE System Challenge first.
Day 1: Choose One Resonant DRIVE and Define Its MVD
Objective:
- Pick the single drive most resonant with you and reduce it to its smallest aligned action
Exercise:
- From your existing drives, choose the one most resonant with you right now
- Define an MVD — the smallest possible action that enacts that drive
- Check it against your guardrails: run it through the triad of logos, pathos, ethos
- Pass it through the resonance test: Does this embody who I am? Can I do it every day? Why or why not?
Reflection prompt:
- Did the MVD feel like a "yes" in your body, or did it jolt a cue or narrative?
Micro-activation:
- Shrink the MVD until it feels easy, repeatable, and non-threatening
Day 2: Anchor It to a SMART Goal
Objective:
- Point your MVD at something you actually want to accomplish
Exercise:
- Choose a goal you want to embody and align it with your MVD in either direction:
- Value-first: e.g. Creativity + "learn to paint" → practice painting ten minutes, twice a week
- Goal-first: take a goal that's deeply resonant and custom-tailor a drive/MVD to serve it
- Make the goal SMART: Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, Time-bound
- Keep it small and attainable, with a real deadline, so it won't overwhelm your system
Reflection prompt:
- Is this goal relevant to who you're becoming — or is it an externality your brain will fight?
Micro-activation:
- Write the SMART goal in one sentence and perform your MVD once
Day 3: Execute — Spark the Propulsion Loop
Objective:
- Start the engine with fuel and spark
Exercise:
- At your first opening this week, execute the MVD — this is the spark
- Notice the dopamine hit as it fires — that's the fuel that keeps the loop moving
- Write why you want this goal from an intrinsic standard, not an extrinsic one — because no one will hold you accountable but you
Reflection prompt:
- What intrinsic motivator will you lean on in the moments you feel like you can't?
Micro-activation:
- Perform your MVD and name the intrinsic reason out loud
Day 4: Reflect — Journal the Enactment
Objective:
- Turn on the dashboard
Exercise — journal for 3–5 minutes as a short reflective essay:
- What did you do, and how did it embody your SMART goal?
- How did it feel to enact the MVD?
- What resistance showed up — chest tightening, emotions, narratives pulling you away?
- What eROI showed up — joy, excitement, resonance, light cues?
Reflection prompt:
- Which mattered more today: the resistance, or the resonance?
Micro-activation:
- Perform your MVD, then write your reflective essay
Day 5: Score It in the DII
Objective:
- Make the action measurable against your identity
Exercise — score the enactment in your Daily Integrity Check-In:
- How aligned was it with your identity? Why that score?
- Which cues pushed the score down?
- How did it enact your value–virtue system?
- How could you expand your value–virtue definition to accommodate what you're becoming?
Reflection prompt:
- Did the DII reveal an alignment you hadn't named yet?
Micro-activation:
- Perform your MVD and log its DII score
Day 6: Refine or Expand — The Reflection Stage
Objective:
- Use the loop's reflection stage to keep the MVD alive
Exercise:
- Review the week's enactments. Is the MVD still resonant, or has it gone mundane?
- If it felt too big, shrink it. Too vague, specify it. Misaligned, re-root it in your values
- If it's getting easy and a little flat, expand it (treadmill walk → one machine move a day) — without overwhelming your system
Reflection prompt:
- What small expansion would make tomorrow's MVD feel alive again?
Micro-activation:
- Perform the refined or expanded MVD
Day 7: Reinforce — Momentum and the Restart Protocol
Objective:
- Lock in momentum and prepare for the inevitable stall
Exercise:
- Write one reinforcement statement: why you'll keep doing this MVD, and why you believe you can
- Set your restart protocol for when life interrupts — your version of the rule of three moves: the smallest action that still embodies you, required on the days you don't want to show up at all
- Remind yourself: missing days is human, not failure. The loop isn't gone — it's just stagnant until you restart it
Reflection prompt:
- What's the smallest action that would restart your loop after a bad week?
Micro-activation:
- Perform your MVD and read your reinforcement statement aloud
After the 7 Days
Keep the loop running: fuel → spark → habit → dashboard → momentum. Keep the MVDs small and aligned, keep scoring them in your journal and DII, and let dopamine, small wins, and intrinsic motivation compound.
Your drives are the fuel. Your MVDs are the spark. Your journaling is the dashboard. Your propulsion system is the daily re-enactment. Your identity is the destination.
